Moniack Mead

Description

A traditional British mead based on the original secret recipe developed in Moniack Castle, Scotland. This richly sweet treat shows flavours of dried mango, apricot, honey and marmalade, with a hint of exotic spice from ageing in old oak barrels. Serve it with your finest fresh fruit pie or blue cheese.

Tasting Notes

The history of mead, made by fermenting honey and water, goes back as far as 8,000 years. This particular brand is wildly popular and extremely sought after around the world. In the glass, it has hues of deep golden brown. There are predominant aromas of honey and beeswax with secondary notions of honeydew melon, clover and burnt sugar. It's full bodied, sweet in the mouth - stops well short of being cloying - with flavours of caramel, honey, and apple. Enjoy by itself after dinner or with home-baked apple pie. Score - 90.
